Making Geometry Visible: an Introduction to the Animation of Geometric Algorithms
نویسندگان
چکیده
This chapter surveys the eld of geometric algorithm animation, which has ourished in the past ve years. Algorithm animation uses moving pictures to explain a computer algorithm to students learning programming, to algorithm researchers, or to programmers involved in debugging. The chapter surveys systems used to create animations of algorithms, focusing on those that specialize in geometry. It considers a selection of animation, pointing out some useful techniques. It continues with some consideration of general design issues and speciic animation techniques, and closes with a look at the future.

87a Animation of Geometric Algorithms: A Video Review
Geometric algorithms and data structures are often easiest to understand visually, in terms of the geometric objects they manipulate. Indeed, most papers in computational geometry rely on diagrams to communicate the intuition behind the results. Algorithm animation uses dynamic visual images to explain algorithms. Thus it is natural to present geometric algorithms, which are inherently dynamic,...
متن کاملVisualizing Geometric Algorithms with WAVE: System Demonstration
The visual nature of geometric applications makes them a natural area for designing systems which describe relevant aspects of the algorithm behaviour by using animation. Namely, the animation of geometric algorithms is mentioned among the strategic research directions in computational geometry by Tamassia et al. [12] and increasing attention has been put toward designing and developing algorit...

Abstract: Nowadays, the animators give life to the fancy characters by making natural movements to organs of cartoon characters. To achieve this goal, movements of living individuals can be applied into cartoon characters. In this paper, a skeletal correspondence finding based method is proposed to transfer movement of a 2D character into a new character, where these two shapes have the same st...
متن کاملGeoLab: An Environment for Development of Algorithms in Computational Geometry
We describe a Computational Geometry Laboratory which we developed as a programming environment for implementation, testing and animation of geometric algorithms. GeoLab was conceived to be a tool for the working researcher or a group of them, since at its root lie the use of shared libraries of algorithms and an incremental approach to aggregating new types of geometric objects, data structure...
متن کاملMA 323 Geometric Modelling Course Notes: Day 01 Course Introduction
The subject of geometric modelling is a blend of different types of geometry, some mathematical modelling, some numerical analysis, and discipline specific applications. In these course notes, we will concentrate of the subdiscipline of geometric modelling known as computeraided geometric design, which was formed from the mathematical structures and methods used in CAD/CAM systems and subsequen...
